Signs your automatic transmission is failing

Transmission fluid is an important part of your car’s system as it is responsible to lubricate the vehicle’s transmission. Over time, the fluid picks up grime and starts to break down with usage. You need to get the old transmission fluid flushed out to remove the dirt and refill clean fluid to ensure smooth transmission operation. There are several signs that could mean it’s time to get the old and dirty transmission fluid replaced.
Get a quality check of your vehicle’s transmission fluid. You can get it checked by a mechanic or do it yourself. Good transmission fluid is often clear or red-tinted. If the fluid has any visible particles in it, looks brown or darker in color, it means it’s dirty and you need to get it replaced.
Whining noise from the transmission: If you notice a whine when you’re trying to reverse your vehicle, the problem could be in the fluid line, and most often it’s due to clogging. If the whining occurs when you are moving ahead, the issue could be with the torque converter. In either case, you should get our expert mechanics to take a look at the problem before it gets serious.
You might notice your vehicle’s gear seems slippery. When the transmission fluid gets dirty, it fails to flow through the system properly and doesn’t give enough pressure to the transmission to stay in gear. The lack of hydraulic power in the vehicle causes the gears to slip. You must get the fluid changed to fix the problem and ride safely.
Dirty transmission fluid could cause trouble when you try to move your car in reverse. Shifting the gear into reverse might get difficult if the fluid is dirty and lacks smooth flow. Among other reasons to be unable to reverse your car, transmission fluid is one of the quickest reasons to spot.
You might notice your engine running hot. If the transmission fluid is not flowing as it should and doesn’t enter the cooling tank, it could create a lot of heat. Adding to this, there’s a lot of heat generated due to the friction and wear from the transmission. This heat gets transferred to the rest of the engine. So next time if your engine’s hot and you can’t figure out why; get our mechanic to check your car’s transmission fluid.
Apart from the above-mentioned signs, there are some other indicators that could mean you should get your vehicle’s transmission fluid checked and replaced. Dirty fluid can cause unusual noises such as grinding as it fails to properly lubricate the parts.
